Chalk Art

Skylar loves to color and draw. She's getting much better coloring pictures out of coloring books and wish I had some pictures to share, but don't and will get a blog on that soon. What I did want to share happened this past weekend. We were in the driveway and she made a picture of herself. It was so good I thought that Bill had helped her get it started. But no, she did it all by herself. She was very proud.Posing with her masterpiece. Unfortunately it rained that night and was washed away but we'll always have the pictures.

Beautiful Day

We finally had some wonderful weather and got out to enjoy it. 75 degrees and sun, with a slight breeze. Both girls love to swing and the neighbors graciously let us use their swingset. Here's an action shot. (Annelise is strapped in and they really aren't as high as they may appear.) She may not have needed the hat, but the string was good to chew on.After Skylar was done swinging she wanted to push her little sister. It was so cute.
Amazingly looking back at old photos, I had a shot of Skylar in the same swing, almost 2 years ago to the day, in the exact same outfit Annelise is wearing here! She really did like being in the swing I don't know why she's making that face. The "Puss" strikes again.

The Puss

I finally have some pictures where both my girls look alike. You would hope they'd be nice, angelic pictures of them smiling, but no. It's of them making the meanest face they could possibly make. Bill likes to call it "The Puss." He says it runs in their family.

Since Annelise has been born I've been looking back on Skylar's baby pictures and thinking both my kids have their own look. This isn't a bad thing and doesn't bother me at all. I think this lack of similarities is because of their hair. Skylar is blond and had no hair until after 1 yr. old. And Annelise with her light brown hair, most likely will need a clip to keep it out of her face, before her first birthday. But hair or no hair, smiles or no smiles, similarities or not, their mine and I love them to death. I wouldn't want them any other way. So here in honor of Mother's Day here are my girl's best "Puss." A face only a mother could love.

Skylar 8 months old
Annelise 10 months oldAnd just so you don't think it's all sour-grapes around here. These are my angels. Since I most likely won't blog before then,
Happy Mother's Day to all the Mom's and Mom's to be.

"Jail Babies"

Just a cute shot of the kids hanging out. Usually watching things go down the stairs, like toys.

Spring Gardening

Being the end of April you'd think we'd be able to start planting something....anything to let us know that winter will soon be over and it will eventually get warm again. But here Skylar is on April 27th, outside pretending to garden in her winter coat, hat and mittens! It was 34 degrees! 20 below average. This just isn't right. Her and her dad went to Bachmann's the day before and picked her out a new spade, rake and pail. (Backyardigans and Diego brand, of course!) She insisted on trying them out. You have to love her enthusiasm. Annelise was inside taking a nap. But just so she's not slighted here's a picture of her on her 10 month "birthday". I know another high chair picture. It's just one of the few times she's sitting still. You take what you can get, even if there's food all over it.
