First Dentist Appointment

It was a week filled with first. Skylar also had her first dentist appointment. She did well, however all they were able to do was count her teeth. She's a little nervous about people putting things in her mouth. No cleaning or x-rays. Maybe next time.

(I know I'm "back-blogging". We are here. Haven't fallen off the earth. Just busy. I will post about our road trip/vacation, trip to the zoo, and state fair soon.)

Skylar's First Haircut

Yes, you read the title right, FIRST haircut. She's almost 3 1/2 and could never bring myself to get her haircut until now. Up until 1 yr old she really didn't even have hair.

Here she is at 14 months, asking "Where's my hair?"It's been getting long and wispy so I figured it was time. We drove to Kid's Hair where they have TV's for the kids to watch while the get their haircut. Of course Skylar chose D-D-D-D-Dora the Explorer! Here she is strapped in the chair, already watching the TV. 'Bat cape' on, haircut in progress. For a first-time haircut she did very well. The only trouble the stylist had was trying to get her to keep her head in the right position and not watch the television! Annelise was there too, she waited patiently in her stroller. Unlike her sister however, she has hair and will most likely need a haircut by her second birthday. We'll see. Bangs are already getting a little long. Here Skylar is all done and calmly getting her hair dried. Which floored me because at home she is terrified of the dryer. (Still watching Dora. It was "Little Star" for those all too familiar with the episodes.)And this is the 'After' picture. Looks a little bit like the 'Before' picture. It's a little shorter on the sides but you can really tell in the back. (Still think she's trying to watch Dora.)It's a cute cut and she got a certificate and a little envelope with a lock of hair. Her first ever haircut!

Happy Birthday Becca!

This past weekend we went to Becca's house for her 30th birthday! It was fun visiting with friends while the kids played in the swimming pool/sprinkler/swing-set! And of course the best part of all birthdays.....CAKE!! It was yummy! (Melissa is hidden behind Sam.)Becca even made "Skylar friendly" cupcakes so she could join in the goodies! Thank you again Becca and Happy Birthday! We had a great time.

Rain Storm

We had a brief rain storm this past weekend. It only lasted like 15-20 minutes. They were big, fat raindrops though and lots of fun to watch. So I openend the blinds on the patio door and both girls stood there for a little bit watching the rain. Too cute = picture.

Oompa-Loompa in Training

I finally figured out Annelise's joy in creating a mess out of pasta sauce. She is an Oompa-Loompa in training. You know from Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. She's about the right size and Prego does create the perfect color palette. Another meal, another mess.

The Playset

We bought a Playset/Swingset, whatever you want to call it, for the backyard about a month ago. We've been living outside ever since and I'm only getting around to blogging about it now. Slow I know. Skylar absoluetly loves it and Annelise likes to swing. Which is good because about all Annelise can do on it right now is swing. A few weeks back Skylar took her Jessie doll (from Toy Story 2) outside to play and these are a few of the pictures I took. They were so cute together.

First she pushed Jessie on the swing.
Then they went up in the 'fort'.Then they went down the slide. Then they just rested on the steps. It was a fun filled morning. The whole time in my head I had the song "You've got a Friend in Me." It's a song from the first Toy Story, I think. I'll have to try to get some pictures of Annelise on the swing set blogged soon. Until then just picture her in the bucket swing. :-)

Officially 1 Year Old!

Annelise is officially one and as promised here are her stats. She's 34" long (same as her mom at 1 yr.) and she's 26 lbs 12 oz! My arms are really starting to ache. (I know someday they'll ache to hold her like I can now, so I try not to complain.) Her party was fun and the weather sort of cooperated. It sprinkled about an hour before everyone showed up, but only enough to get things wet. The kids were still able to play outside, so that was good. We also did the cake outside, which was great. Less cake mess inside. Annelise wasn't quite sure what to make of her birthday cake. She had never had cake and wasn't quite sure what to do. She made one of 'those' faces. It's the Puss! She did eventually get 'messy' with a little help from big sis. Unfortunately I didn't take any pictures of that. After a bath and pj's, we moved inside for present opening. She received a princess piggy bank from Grandpa and Grandma. And a "Bubble Dog" from Aunt Carrie, Uncle Jake and cousin's Alexis and Dylan. It was a great evening, capped by some Wii playing where cousin Dylan 'knocked-out' Grandma in the boxing game! Annelise missed out on all the excitement and had gone to bed. She was wiped out. Happy Birthday baby girl!
